Parallel zu den ästhetischen Explorationen von CITY VISIONS JENA reflektiert das Symposium den urbanen Wandel auf wissenschaftlicher Ebene. Im Zentrum des Symposiums steht die Frage nach den Verbindungslinien und Wechselwirkungen der Sicht- und Unsichtbarkeiten des urbanen Raums, aber auch ihrer Genealogien. Die Tagung versucht, den Begriff der ‚unsichtbaren Stadt‘ unter den neuen Bedingungen der Computerisierung des öffentlichen Raumes zu rekonzeptualisieren und Stadtbenutzer für die unsichtbare Allgegenwart der Informations- und Kommunikationssysteme zu sensibilisieren.
Das Symposium wurde von Dr. Claudia Tittel (Bauhaus-Universität Weimar) in Zusammenarbeit mit Susa Pop (Initiatorin Connecting Cities) konzipiert.

Parallel to the aesthetic explorations of CITY VISIONS JENA, the symposium reflects on urban change on an academic level. The symposium evolves around the question of connecting lines and interdependencies between visibility and invisibility in the urban space, also investigating their genealogies. The conference attempts to re-conceptualise the notion of the ‚invisible city‘ under the condition of ubiquitous computing and sensitise the inhabitants and users of a city to its imperceptible but omnipresent information and communication systems.
The symposium is concieved by Dr. Claudia Tittel (Bauhaus-University Weimar) in cooperation with Susa Pop (Initiator Connecting Cities).
