Sweatshoppes ‚Videopainting‘ ist eine Multimediacollage von Portraits unterschiedlicher Menschen aus unterschiedlichen Kulturen an den Mauern des öffentlichen Raums. Wo die Körper nicht mehr weiter kommen, öffnet Blake Shaw und Bruno Lévy mit ihrer interaktiven Malerrolle virtuelle, neue Zugänge zum öffentlichen Raum. Im Laufe dieses künstlerischen Prozesses verschwimmen die Porträts zu einer sich überlappenden Collage und werden von den ursprünglichen Bildern entfremdet. Durch die Überschreitung physischer und geografischer Grenzen wird ein neuer Ort der Begegnung für Menschen aus aller Welt geschaffen. Mit ihrer Telekommunikationskunst-Initiative erforschen die Medienkünstler Echtzeitkommunikation zwischen Individuen und reflektieren das Recht auf eigenen Raum, das wir viel zu oft als gegeben hinnehmen.

VIDEOPAINTING

Sweatshoppe’s ‚Videopainting‘ is a multimedia collage of portraits of different people from different cultures on the walls in public space. Where physical bodies can’t go any further, Sweatshoppe (Blake Shaw & Bruno Lévy) opens virtual doorways to a new public space with his interactive paint roller. During the artistic process, the portraits gradually blur into an overlapping collage and alter from their originals. Transcending physical borders, a new place of encounter for people from all over the world arises. With their telecommunication initiative, the media artists explore real-time communication and reflect on the right to a room of one’s own, something that we take for granted much too often.

Blake Shaws intervention at CITY VISIONS will be networked to the parallel running intervention of Bruno Lévy in Hagen at Urban Lights Ruhr.
